From a bruised womb
to runaway birth
to hymnals bleeding out
to mortification of stray bikini hair in a middle school locker room
to handing out fliers of a party you’re not invited to
to choking on milk and being spit on by a slaughterhouse
to being told a dog you never knew isn’t going to make it
to rolling around your science teacher’s speech in your mouth,
when he’s long dead,
to cobwebs in your hair.
Featured in the ColorStory:Art 2023 exhibit. My poetry was displayed alongside Fletcher Stafford's painting (below), who drew inspiration from my work to create his piece. His mother is included in his painting.
